Summer Skills Lacrosse Camp Director

Champ Camp Summer Skills Lacrosse Camp is under the direction of G.W. Mix. Coach Mix has more than 30 years of professional experience in the sport of lacrosse. A former NCAA Division I player at the University of Pennsylvania, he has been a collegiate head coach at Penn (NCAA Divsion I, Ivy League) and Franklin and Marshall College (NCAA Division III) and was named NCAA National Coach of the Year. More recently, Mix has served the sport as president and general manager of the MLL's L.A. Riptide (2005-2008), executive director of the Pacific Coast Shootout (2014-present), and the head coach at Corona del Mar High School, where his teams have compiled a 128-16 record (.888%) and won two CIF Championships since he took over there in 2010. Players in his Sea King program have gone on to play Division I lacrosse at Brown, Cleveland State, Denver, Drexel, Holy Cross (2), Lehigh, Loyola, Notre Dame (2), Rutgers, and Yale (2), while others have played in the MCLA at Chapman, Colorado, Indiana, LMU, San Diego State, Tulane, UCSB and USC. Mix is also the founder and Executive Director of the Newport Beach Surf Dawgs, a community-based youth lacrosse program which feeds the area's high schools.

Throughout his career in lacrosse, Mix has established a number of innovative lacrosse camps and experiences including Champ Camp, the nation's original (1990) and most recognizable team recruiting event. Through a series of teaching camps and lacrosse events, he has helped to grow the sport in developing lacrosse hotbeds including Charlotte (NC), Houston (TX), Austin (TX), and Southern California.
